The Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series will be racing at Plymouth Speedway located in Plymouth, Indiana this Saturday night May 30th. This will be the first of two events at that track, as the best of the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman will compete against the best of the Plymouth Speedway Sportsman division in a 75 lap feature event.

Last season the series had two events at Plymouth Speedway, the first event attracted a series record 44 cars and the second was not far behind with 39 cars attempting to make that event. Lou Stremme held off Charlie Hanna to get the win in the May 24th event last year. Justin Alsip got the victory in the 100 lap event on August 2nd over Rick Rinehart and John Marshall.

Saturday will be the third event of the 2009 season for the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series. Charlie Hanna led all 75 laps of the season open on April 18th at Anderson Speedway. Hanna held off Steve Stacy and Ric Pfiefer to get the victory. Steve Minich Jr. got the win in the series second event on Memorial Day at Baer Field Speedway. That exciting event saw six different lead changes between Adam Hudson, Charlie Hanna, Billy Hutson, Bob Blount and Minich Jr. Minich Jr. made the last pass on lap 46 going underneath Blount to grab the lead and eventually the win in the 50 lap feature. Blount held on to second with Tommy Cook third.

2006 series Champion Keith Sterkowitz comes into Saturday’s event as the series point’s leader by three over Minich Jr. Hanna is in third, seven points out of first. Rookie Steve Stacy is fourth, 13 points behind Hanna while Ric Pfiefer is in fifth place, five points behind Stacy. Stremme was the winner of the Plymouth Speedway Sportsman season opening event on May 16th. Kevin Gunkel was second with Derrick Griffin in third.

Pit gates will open on Saturday at 2pm. Practice will begin at 4pm with qualifying at 6pm. The race program will begin at 7pm and will include 10 lap heat races and a 75 lap feature event for the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series.
