Bobby Archer

One Mini Stock Driver who had one heck of a good 2009 season is Bobby Archer, piloting the Unleashed Racing, 4 Play Racing and Casper Racing No. 86 Mini Stock.

“This is my first full season in Mini’s so my plan was to just come out and have a good time but I ended up with 9 heat wins, a B Feature win and a C Feature win so I am just thrilled with that!”  Bobby exclaimed.

While its true that this is the first year for Bobby in the Mini Stock Class, Bobby has been coming to New Paris Speedway for years.  “I started coming to New Paris in 1975 when I was 8 years old to watch my Uncles, Dave Watson and Jim Quast race and my fascination with racing started from there. My first year of racing was in 1986.  I raced in the Coyote Class which was a Pure Stock Class, just a different name. Racing was different back then.  You didn’t have to have a roll cage or a fire suit.  You just took out the glass, threw on a helmet and raced,” he said.

New Paris is Bobby’s home track but he enjoyed traveling to different tracks.  “I have raced Angola, Plymouth and Mottville.  As a matter of fact, my first time at Plymouth I won the heat and got 2nd in the Feature. New Paris will always be my home track.  This is where I grew up, this is where I have been raising my kids and this is where I would like to see my grandkids raised.”  “After several years of racing, I gave it up and got married.  I still came to the track to watch my brother Rodney and my friend’s race, I just didn’t race.”  Bobby recalls.

“I raced a little in 2008 but I didn’t do all that great and it wasn’t all that much fun.  To be honest, If it were not for Kevin Grubb, I would not be racing this year.  My car was built, painted and lettered by Kevin Grubb and my motor was built by K & K Engines, which is Kevin and his brother Kirt’s business.  Not only can Kevin build the best racecars, he is also the cleanest driver you could ask for and he has all the talent to back it up.  As far as I am concerned, Kevin is a Super Hero and that is why he is my inspiration and my favorite driver.” Said Bobby Archer.

“I had two goals for this year.  One was to break into the top 25 in points and the second was to get a perfect attendance, which I accomplished both and so much more,” he said.

With the successful year Bobby has had, I think its safe to say we will be seeing Bobby again for a long time coming which will make his family, friends and fans, very happy!

Bobby would like to thank his brother Rodney, his fiancée Tina, his children; Jeff, Brad, Danny, Heather, Sheri’ and Zoie.  The entire Unleashed Racing, 4 Play Racing and Casper Racing teams and all of his fans for supporting him every week.  Also Bobby would like to thank Kelly Grubb for putting up with a house full of drivers all the time and for putting up with Kevin spending so much time doing what needs to be done for the team.

Bobby’s Sponsors are Kropp Fire Protection, Ed’s Auto Salvage, Paradise Ice, Hall’s Tattoo’s and K & K Engines.

(Writer’s Side Note: Kevin Grubb is my husband and I am very proud of him and all that he is accomplished but I am a little worried that people will get annoyed with Kevin being mentioned so often in a lot of my profiles.  The words I write are quotes.  They are not my personal opinions.  I have to write what is said to me.  I apologize to anyone who might be getting tired of hearing about Unleashed Racing and those involved with Unleashed but I have been asked to write a profile for all of the members of Unleashed Racing so I am just doing as I was asked.  If anyone is interested in having their favorite driver profiled, I can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 574-535-3458.  I will do my best to get it done.  Thank You! Kelly Grubb.)
