The entry lists for both the USAC National Sprint and Midget Series event at Toledo Speedway are taking shape as the Friday, July 3 race at Toledo Speedway nears. 1996 Indy 500 winning car owner, Ron Hemelgarn, and his Hemelgarn Racing Team will sponsor the race along with Super Fitness.toledo

The USAC National Sprint Car Series division is led by current point leader Levi Jones.  2007 Toledo winner Dave Darland is entered, along with Jerry Coons Jr., Darren Hagan, Bobby Santos III, Tracy Hines, Jesse Hockett and Bobby East.  Jones leads Darland and Hockett in the current point standings.  Santos has won the last 2 events--at Kalamazoo, MI Speedway and last weekend at Richmond International Raceway.  A field of 18-22 Sprinters is expected to make the trip to Toledo to battle on the ½ mile, high-banked paved oval.

Several drivers will do double duty Friday night, with Hagan, Darland, Coons Jr., East, Hines, Levi Jones, Cole Whitt, Henry Clarke and Bobby Santos III scheduled to compete in both the Sprint and Midgets.   Brad Kuhn is the current point leader over Coons Jr. and Hagan.  Kuhn is the only driver to finish all 13 races in the top 10 in the 2009 season.  A total of 22-25 Midgets should be on hand.  Kevin Swindell, the 2006 Toledo winner, the son of legendary open-wheel star Sammy Swindell, is also entered for the Midget portion of the night.

A Racer’s Reunion is also being planned for many of the former USAC stars of the past.  The group will be honored in ceremonies on-track during the evening.  Several vintage race cars will also be on display in the spectator concourse July 3.

The pit area open at 1 p.m, practice begins at 4, time trials start at 6 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.  The front gate will open at 4 p.m.

Reserved seat tickets are now on sale by calling the track at 419-727-1100.  Reserved seats are $25 in advance, $27 the day of the race.  VISA and Mastercard are accepted for phone orders.  ALL general admission tickets and children’s tickets go on sale at 4 p.m. Friday, race day.  General admission is $25 per adult, children 6-14 are $3 and under 6 are free.

Toledo Speedway is located on Benore Road at the I-75/Alexis Road exit on the Michigan-Ohio border.
