Ovid, Michigan (Saturday, May 9, 2009): Early Morning Rain Showers and a Forecast for more showers and thunderstorms as well as unusually cold temperatures forced Owosso Speedway Officials to cancel the races scheduled for Saturday, May 9th.
The Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club Night, which was to be part of the nights’ festivities, has been rescheduled for May 30,2009 by M.A.R.F.C. and Owosso Speedway Officials. There will also be a bike giveaway on that night.
The next event on the 2009 schedule at Owosso Speedway is set for Saturday, May 16th as it will be Civil Servant Night at the Ovid, Michigan speed plant. Any Police, Fire, EMS Worker who show their I.D. gets in for absolutely FREE!
On the track, the Drive Train Specialists Pro Late Models are on hand and will be joined by the Affordable Tire and Service Center Pro Stocks, RacingPartSales.com Pure Stocks, and Fast Track Promotions Sport Stocks.
As for the Wieland Contracting Modifieds, who have yet to race this season, their 2009 Season Opener will now be held over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend on Saturday May 23rd during the first of three Autograph and Picture Nights.
Every Saturday night during the regular season, the Pit Gates will open at "High Noon" 12:00p.m., with Rotating Practice set to begin at 2:00p.m. The Grandstand Gates swing open at 5:00p.m., with Qualifying going at 5:00p.m. Racing is set for 7:00p.m.
General Admission during the season on regular race nights are; Adults - $12.00, Seniors - $10.00, Students (9-16) - $8.00 and Kids (8 and Under) are absolutely FREE. Pit Passes on regular race nights are $25.00.
The Drive Train Specialists Pro Late Models and Wieland Contracting Modifieds will alternate weekends throughout the 2009 racing season as the headlining division during the Weekly Local Racing Series Racing Programs on Saturday nights.
The only nights where the Pro Late Models and Modifieds will be in action on the same night will be during the 2009 Season Championships on September 12th and the 14th annual Owosso Fall Nationals Weekend on September 25-27th.
SAT May 30 will be Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club Night as well as Kids Bike Night and Service Club Night (Kiwanis, Lions Club, VFW, Masonic Temple, etc.) Bring your I.D. or wear your club uniform and get in FREE. This special night will be featuring the Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Michigan Legends Series - Michigan Spring Regionals Day II, PLUS Weekly Local Racing Series - PLM, PURE, SPORT (NO MOD and PRO)
Every Wednesday is test and tune from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with everyone in attendance getting fed by the track! It is a nice way to get out to the track and not have to worry about dinner!
