The O’Reilly All Star Late Model series brought out a nice showing of cars Saturday night at Butler Speedway, all competing for the $5000.00 top prize. As time trials started speeds were quick and the track was loose, and we were looking forward to an action packed show. Along with the series regulars, several of Butlers Late model champs we trying to fight their way into the top positions as well. Heats would go to Rob Blair No. w11, Terry Sroufe No. 12s, Rod Conley No. 71R, and Zack Olger Ox. The All Stars ran two B features with Bryan Koebbe No. 33 taking the first and Rich Neiser No. 87 securing the second for the transfer to the A main. The packed field of twenty-four late models lined up for the traditional Butler Fan wave and it was led by Biggs, Conley, Miley, Knight, and Local Butler fan favorite Sroufe in the top five starting positions. On the first lap of the fifty lap feature coming out of turn four a large crash in the tail of the field would devour six cars before they could get the dust cleared from their eyes. One after another drivers could not see as the entered the front stretch and continued to smash into each other sending the crowd to their feet. Unfortunately, for Butler fans local track favorite Corey Bevard No. 8¢ would be tangled in the pack and go to the hauler for the night. Briggs would lead the first twenty-nine laps of the feature until engine problems dropped him back where Conley quickly took hold of the top position and led the way. The real battle of the night was actually for the fifth position as Sroufe and Rob Blair No. w11 fought it out lap after lap. Bumping and sliding staying nose to nose for over thirty laps these drivers gave everything they had, and Sroufe ended up finally holding tight and moving up another position to finish with an outstanding fourth place for the night. With the evening closing in Brigss was able to get his ride tuned in and go high on lap forty to take Conley, and the No. 9 of Knight slid right by as well securing his second place spot. The feature went to Briggs the All Star points leader and Butler’s own Sroufe took home fourth place.

The Modified class continues to bring out more cars each week as word spreads that Butler is offering this new class. Drivers from across the Midwest region are all piling in to stake their claim at the fast 3/8 th’s high-banked oval. Twenty-four Modifieds filled the field and the three heat races were won by Mike Tarlton No. 17T, Tommy Beezley II No. 69, and Zeke Mckenzie No. 24. The B feature went to Jeff Reay No.12 . The A main was won by Beezley after numerous lead changes , engines not firing after cautions, spins outs by leaders and numerous other problems which allowed Beezley to take advantage of other drivers misfortunes and take the flag.

The Street Stock division packed the field with twenty-nine cars showing up for the night. The heats went to Bob Rendel No. 006, Cody Ormiston No. 48, and Ron McCumbers No. 13. The B main was won by Elston Flemmings Jr. No. 83. As the A main started we would see a mix of lead changes again, it looked as Rendel would take home the win, until McCumbers got him on the re-start and nailed it to the floor sending dust flying and the No. 13 back to the winners circle.

Butler Speedway continues to offer an exciting venue of dirt track racing. Butler runs the 5-1 show each week, however has added many specials to the schedule by fan request. Next week we will see fans pack the stands and pits as it is Butlers famous Autograph night. Butler drivers will be on fan patrol looking to take photos and sign autographs for all the dedicated fans that support them each week.

A new announcement for the track is the week of June 13th Ohio vs. Michigan mTs inc. Sprint Series will be bringing the Wingless Sprints cars to the track. This special show will run along with the Sportsmen division, and the Modifieds. The Midget sprints will be visiting the track later in the schedule as well. Butler track owners continue to take requests and appreciate suggestions to the Butler Speedway web page for further ideas.
