It was late afternoon, Sunday July 12. It appeared to be a multiple hit and run incident involving several cars. Officials were unsure of how the incident was initiated. Upon first impact the victim was laid out about mid track in turn four, but amazingly on second impact he flipped and landed completely upright. Unfortunately it is believed a third impact is what finished him off. The victim was found laying flat on the front stretch when the vehicles were finally stopped. Revival attempts proved futile. It is with great remorse I must announce the passing of the turn four traffic cone at Mid-Michigan Speedway ... thanks to some great Enduro racing!!!
Yes there were only six cars, but these individuals pushed their cars to the limit. The big dog of the day was the No.69 station wagon, who dropped out early with a possible broken axle. The No.11x of Randy Clingan dominated even though he had to go pit twice after blowing two right front tires. He was on the edge of blowing another one when he crossed the finish line for the win.
The cars were brought to the front stretch after the race where the drivers all talked to fans and officials, and each other about those 100 laps. Fun was had by all, and they are ready for the Speedways next one. So if you have an Enduro car, and want to run, keep your eye on the schedule at www.midmichiganracing,com for upcoming dates.
