M40 Speedway was able to get in most of their Friday night line-up this past weekend before the rain came and spoiled the night. The Late Models were in mid-feature when the rain came, and will be making up their feature this weekend. As for the rest of the divisions, the Pro-Stocks and Pure Stocks put on some real good racing action.
In the Pure Stocks division, Burney Arnett lead the field through the checkers for his fourth feature win of the season. Arnett cruised through the field and ran strong throughout the feature, holding off Andrew Devreese to get the victory. Josh Highbaugh finished a strong third, followed by Tim Thurston. Rick Reed rounded out the top five.
" The cooler weather helped, the car handled good, I was a little more aggressive than normal ", said race winner Burney Arnett.
Arnett wanted to thank his sponsors ( Custom Lawn Care, Williamson Auto and Machine, Paisano's Bar and Grill, and Clewell Motors ) for their support.
Arnett was also the heat two winner, giving him eleven wins overall on the season. Matt Sullivan won heat one for his second win of the season.
Pro-Stocks had a familiar face in the winner circle. For the second straight week, Brandon Zachary led the troops to the finish. Zachary went almost the whole feature unchallenged, until the final laps when Mickey Cornwell pushed for the lead. Cornwell had to settle for second, as the laps ran down before he could make a serious challenge. Rodney Smith held off Steve Smith for the third place. Fred Reed hung on for the fifth place finish.
" The car handled well, but we are having mtor issues. We are making great ground on improving the performance of the car ", said race winner Brandon Zachary.
Zachary wanted to thank his sponsors ( Dowagiac Area Credit Union, Division Tire, Mimi Sarducci's, 99 Signs, All-Star Performance, Tough Guy Enterprises, GT Products, Competition Fuel, and Advance Property Management of South Bend ) for their support.
Alex Pratt got his third heat win of the season, winning heat one. Fred Reed got his eighth heat win ( tenth overall ) of the season, winning heat two.
Although the Late Models didn't get their feature in, they were able to get in their heat races. Cory Pressler got his fifth heat win ( sixth win overall ) of the season, winning heat one. Jeff Ganus got his second heat win ( ninth win overall )of the season, winning heat two.
