Just a week removed from the Pro-Stocks big feature race, the M40 Speedway scheduled a fifty lap feature  for the Late Models to get them geared up for the Late Model Spectacular.  With a good crowd on hand to see all the great racing action, M40  would put on another great show.

One of the big names to show up a day early for the Late Model Spectacular, was Jack Landis.  Landis would go out and win the Late model pursuit race in his first victory of the season at the M40 Speedway.  Landis was far from done at that point.  When the feature rolled out on the track, Landis would prove to be ready for Saturdays 100 lap endurance race, showing patience on hs way to the front.  Landis would take the lead from Eric McGlohthlen and never look back.  McGlohthlen would hold down second place with Brandon Zachary beating out Ken Weaver for third.  Jeff Ganus rounded out the top five positions.

" Just tried to be patient and wait for an opportunity to make a move.  I haven't run here many times before and trying to get geared for the Late Model Spectacular ", said Landis.  Landis went on to thank his two crew chiefs, Kevin, and kirk for the hard work put in on the car.  He also thanked Manufacturing Housing Inc.

Late Model heat winners were Roger Northrup, winning his second heat race of the season, and Rick Hahn, who got to the winner circle for the first time in 09.

When the Pro-Stocks rolled out on the track, it appeared that Nick Pressler felt he had something to prove, after leading a lot of laps the week before only to succumb to problems.  Pressler made his way to the front of the pack in just a few laps of the forty lap feature.  Pressler then fought off challenges by the No.30 of Rodney Smith who couldn't find any answer to the Pressler machine.  Pressler went on to win his first feature at the M40 Speedway this season.  Smith would hold down second place, holding off challenges from ‘Fast’ Fred Reed.  Thomas Fisher beat out Gary Wyrick Jr. for the fourth place finish.

" The car was extremely loose tonight. I just tried to hold the bottom, couldn't pick up the gas when I wanted too.  The car seemed to be better last week ", said Pressler.  Pressler expressed thank you's to his brother Cory, who owns the car and pays for everything, Advance Property, A&A tree Services and X Factor Racing.com.

The heat races went to Steve Smith Sr., who in just his second week in the car has got his second win of the season.  This was the third straight week that the Vochaska machine was in the winner circle.  Fred Reed won his fifth heat race of the season, and his sixth win overall on the season.  Cory Pressler hopped in the Pro-Stock he owns long enough to get a victory in the Pro-Stock pursuit race.

In one of the best races of the night, Josh Highbaugh found his way to the front of the Pure Stocks feature holding off the challenges of hard charging Tim Thurston and Cindy Stremme.  After a late caution, Burney Arnett jumped the start as he went to the front of the pack from fourth to take the lead from Highbaugh.  Highbaugh was unexpectedly the winner after the forty lap event as Arnett was docked one position. Arnett would have to settle for the second place finish with Thurston coming home third.  Stremme held off points leader Tony Stewart for the fourth place finish.

" This is really what we needed. I told myself not to overdrive the car, I was worried I would break my time ", said Highbaugh.  " I would have settled for a top three, but this was a great day for us ".

" I got a little anxious,"said Burney Arnett, after the race."Been doing this for a long time, its nice to see someone else get the win.  It was the right call ".

Josh thanks his dad Tuck, son  Jordan and Amanda.  He also thanked his sponsors Snip Doggie Dog, Lily Jean's Drive-in, Sauk Trail, Russell Automotive Inc., Sign Works and Purgatory Towing and Salvage.

Cody Dale won his third heat race of the season, while Tim Thurston went on to win his third heat win of the season, and his eighth overall.  Burney Arnett won the Pure Stock pursuit race.

This week the Late Model Challenge Series makes its way back to the M40 Speedway for race three of the series, along with the regular program of Pro-Stocks, Pure Stocks and Mini-Stocks.

July 24th will be a regular program of Late Models, Pro-Stocks, Pure Stocks and Mini-Stocks.

July 26th will be an Enduro event at the M40 Speedway and July 31st will have the Dwarf cars visiting, with Late Models, Pure Stocks, and Mini-Stocks.  No Pro-Stocks on the 31st.

Come out and see some of the best racing in the state every Friday night at the M40 Speedway.
