Rain can't stop races

A  heavy downpour slowed the start of Saturdays racing. The rain stopped, the sun came out and the racing went on. The first feature that hit the track was the Factory Stock class. #55 Adam Loew and #69 Nick Kanaziz brought the field to the green. #21  James Farley from West Branch made it four wide in turn one as he came from the number eight starting spot to third before he got to turn three. Kanaziz got the early lead as the pack raced three and four wide behind him. #00 Jim Dorman of Swartz Creek came from the back row, and now we had J. Farley and Dorman all over the back bumper of first timer Kanaziz in a fight for the lead. Dorman got the point with J. Farley and last weeks feature winner #2 Bob Farley of West Branch close behind.
Heat race winner #64 Chuck Charbonneau from Prescott lost a tire and brought the first yellow flag. After several attempts to restart, the green came out and Dorman grabbed the lead again. J. Farley and #33 Alex Zawacki from Bentley were second and third. Dorman drove away as the fight for the number two spot heated up between J. Farley, A Zawacki, and B. Farley. Halfway found heat winner B. Farley getting around Zawacki and brother James to try to chase down Dorman. Dorman was the class of the field tonight as he drove to his first feature victory of ‘09. Bob Farley was second while James Farley took third. #96 Rich Haskin of Hale won the dash. #44 Terry Briggs from Twining picked up the pursuit win and #31 John Zawacki from Bentley was TQ.
Next up Lead Sleds. #11 Andy Freehling from AuGres on the pole with #77 Paul McClaine of Tawas on the outside as they came to the green. Heat winner #1 Kris Edmonds from AuGres jumped by for the lead as TQ and Dash winner #24 Luke Williams of Oscoda moved to second. Williams got by last years champ Edmonds for the lead and never looked back. At the checkers it was Williams, Edmonds and #5 Richard Hammon Jr from Tawas the top three.
Mini Stocks rolled next with #4 Cody LaFluer from Sterling and pursuit winner #46 Dave Moore of West Branch in the front row. More grabbed the lead as TQ #11 Mike Provoast made a four wide move and drove into second. Provoast worked by Moore for the lead and heat winner #17 Mike Muckenthaler from Long Lake got by LaFluer for third. Provoast pulled away from the pack. Muckenthaler put the challenge on Moore and took the runner up spot. As the checkered flew it was Provoast, Muckenthaler and Moore the top three..
