Four track qualifying records were broken on a very fast night of racing. The late models were first up and fast. Ed Sorget No. 08 from Rogers City and Justin Schalk No. 15 from Rogers City led the field to the green. With a run around the outside, heat winner Kyle Tremble No. 84 of Standish grabbed the point and never looked back. The racing was for second and the battle was on. Pursuit winner Ed Doutre Jr. No. 99 from Swartz Creek, heat winner Josh Burtch No.15 from Whittemore and Pierre Latienne No. 34 of Tuner diced it up for several laps for the runner up spot. TQ (top qualifier) Mike Skowronski No .28, veteran driver Ryan Ostrander No. 0 of Whittemore and Bernie Murphy Jr. No. 4 from Whittemore made their way from the back as Tremble stretched out his lead. With no yellow flags time ran out and as the white flag flew, Skoronski's hood came off, but not before Tremble was on the way to the win. Ostrander and Murphy Jr. made it to second and third.
In the Lead Sleds Andy Freeling No. 11 from AuGres and Richard Hammon Jr. No. 5 of Tawas started up front. Pursuit winner Luke Williams No. 24 from Oscoda and TQ Kris Edmond No. 1 of AuGres didn't take long before they got to the lead and drove away. Another race with no cautions made this fifteen lap race go quick. At the checkers it was Williams the winner over heat winner Edmonds and Hammon Jr. rounding out the top three.
Douglas Wright No. 76 of West Branch and rookie driver Matt Limron No. 6 from Flushing brought the fastest bunch of Mini Stocks in the State to the green. Heat winner Mike Muckenthaller No. 17 from Long Lake made the first move around the outside for the early lead. Pursuit winner Kevin Peek No. 3 from Omer and bad fast TQ Mike Provost No. 11 of Whittemore drove inside and outside around the pack, and put the chase on Muckenthaller. Provost drove by Peek and Muckenthaller for the lead in another caution free feature. When the checkered flag flew, Provost got the win with Muckenthaller and Peek second and third.
Last up, and trying to beat the on coming rain, were the always exciting Factory Stocks. Bart Stern No. 80 and Kent Swartz No. 62 brought the field to the green. Swartz grabbed the early lead with heat winner James Farley No. 21 and Bob Farley No. 2, both from West Branch, close behind. A yellow for a lost tire on the Rich Haskin No. 96 of Hale caused his early retirement and that of Joe Coleman No. 6 with bent steering parts. At the restart it was Swartz, B. Farley, J. Farley and TQ Rick Spencer No. 65 of Whittemore in the front two rows. B. Farley took the lead with Spencer and Swartz close behind. With a little sprinkle in the air pursuit winner Terry Briggs No. 44 moved his way up to third. B. Farley would hold off all challenges and at the finish line it was birthday Bob Farley with the win, Spencer second, and Briggs third.
Next week the Modifieds will be back.
