The second night of racing at the Onaway Speedworld, fans were plentiful but the car counts were slightly off. That did not throw off the fierce compitition though, as drivers were racing as hard as ever. Late models were given the night off and will be back in action next week.
The modifieds were represented by four cars, Jay Polumbo, Curtis Anderson, Keith McBee and James Brown. Polumbo left of where he began the night before at Kinross by taking the feature win. You could not seperate these 4 drivers durring the first half of the race. Anderson would take the heat win and fast time, while McBee would take the dash honors.
The factory stock class had 2 more cars than last week, with the long tow coming from Tim Schmidt from Bay City. The heat saw some pretty good action as Casey Shimel was running strong in the first 5 laps of the race with veteran driver Terry Bisson. The two drivers would swap a little paint, but Bisson would eventually get the 3 top spot. Shimel would retire pit side for the evening due to a broken bumper and losing his breaks. Todd Ferguson would take the heat win coming from deep in the back of the pack. Shimel would have fast time honors, while ferguson would win the dash and the feature. Missing in action were Todd Jackson, who had mechanical problems the night before at Kinross and Larry Young Jr.
The pure stock division was really something to watch tonight. Stan Chaskey would be in the right place at the right time, as durring the feature with only a few laps to go, leader Randy Nash would slam the "Wall of Shame" on the front stretch durring a 3 wide battle for the lead. The whole feature saw drivers bumper to bumper and rail to rail. I don't think that you could have seperated them with a piece of paper. Dave Morrell would take the heat win, with Ryan Radjewski would take the dash. Stan Chaskey would have fast time honors. Lady racer Tracy Prow would take the Aussie win. Missing in action were Barry Glenn, whos car lost a motor the night before, Don Etcher, Nathan Amrhein, Pat Freel, Julie Falzer and Ray Golladay.
The 4 cylinder class had the least amount of cars on hand, with 2. Zach Gray would dominate the night taking fast time, heat and the feature over Zach Night. Lots of drivers missing in action as Ron Etcher, Dan Autore, Larry Miller Sr. and Tom Gray were out due to mechanical problems from the night before or last weeks action.
The bump and grind bomber class was a blast, as drivers and fans got a big surprise come feature time. Instead of running things on the track the normal way, drivers were directed to turn left out of the shoot, and would run the 25 lap even clock wise on the track. Onaway veteran Paul Klein would overcome a spin, and many attempts to spin him out, swapping the lead 3 times with the top 3 cars the entire race to take the well earned feature victory. Klein would also take the dash and heat honors. Ken Wovner was the fast time winner and Aussie winner. Drivers not on hand were Tod VanBrocklin, Chris Cole and Bub Docherty.
