Another strong field of Chuck's Discount Foods UMP Modifieds were on hand Friday, June 12 at the Mt. Pleasant Speedway for the Auto Solutions sponsored $750 to win feature.

This week 24 Modifieds took to the track, marking the third straight week there were over 20 of the state's best open-wheeled drivers at the Mt. Pleasant Speedway.

The night was a triple special as there was also a Taco Boy sponsored Smokers Club Street Stock $400 to win feature and a very special race, the "Lil' Bud Shootout," a 10-lap race with feature winners from the 2008 and 2009 season honoring the late Warren "Bud" Lassen, a former racecar driver at the Mt. Pleasant Speedway who died earlier in the year.

Leading off the night's features was the Mt. Pleasant & Clare Automotive Stock Mini division. Although short on numbers, the class continues to be strong in talent. Picking up his fourth feature win of the year was Mike Schnettler No. 88 with Shane Aescheliman No. 53 coming home in second.

The Smokers Club Street Stock 20-lap feature, a $400 to win special sponsored by Taco Boy, was out next with a field of 18 cars making the "A" main. Making his return to the Mt. Pleasant Speedway was Kevin Crawford Sr. No. 7, the defending track champion, who would take the lead and seem to get the win, but Crawford Sr.'s car failed post-race inspection and the win went to Josh Loomis No. 11, with David Mielke No. 87 getting second place and Greg Tragis No. 49 finishing third for his best run of the season.

The Miller Lite UMP Late Models came out next for their 30-Lap feature. With 16 cars taking the green flag, Michigan Motorsports Hall of Famer Roger Wing No 55 got the early jump and led the first 10 laps until Ryan Vanderveen No. 23V found his way to the front. Once out front Vanderveen would hold off all challengers and get his first career Mt. Pleasant Speedway feature victory. Following Vanderveen across the finish line were Wing and Adam Thrush No. 91.

Up next was the "Lil' Bud Shootout," with nine Chuck's Discount Foods UMP Modified drivers making the call. Looking to have the win in hand was four-time Mt. Pleasant Speedway track champion Rich Robinson Jr. No. 15, but late in the race 1981 Super Stock Mt. Pleasant Speedway track champion No. 21 Steven Hilliker used the high side to zip around Robinson Jr. and grab the win, a trophy and some extra cash. Robinson Jr. came home second, followed by Joe Fowler No. 19F, Lawrence Sprague Jr. No. 81, Chad Bauer No. 19B, Troy Marciniak No. 8, Ken Smith No. S57, Kevin Miller No. 43, and Todd Feutz No. 18.

Finally the last feature would be the NAPA Modified Mini Stocks for a 15-lap main event, which would find Derick Neitling No. 21 get his fourth feature victory of the season over Joey Burch No. 16.

Next Friday, June 19, Mt. Pleasant Speedway goes topless as the track is hosting Topless Miller Lite Late Models and Chuck's Discount Foods UMP Modifieds, plus a full show in Smokers Club Street Stocks, NAPA Modified Mini Stocks and Mt. Pleasant & Clare Automotive Stock Minis.
