Driver: George Wilson
Nickname: "Steel City Outlaw"
Home Town: Sault Ste Marie Ontario
Class : Late models and open-wheeled modifieds.
Home Tracks: Kinross, Laird, Berlin
Hobbies: Racing and snowmobiles.
Goals and outlooks for 2009: Car counts look like they will be up this season, and a lot of drivers plan on returning to Kinross this year. I think that we will definately be in the running for another championship or 2 this year. I am really looking forward to running down at Berlin this season, there is a lot of good drivers down there, and it will be a big adventure along with a learning curve for us there. We feel that we will be very competitive down there, and hope to pick up atleast one win down there.
How did you get started in racing? I started out as a fan over at Kinross and Laird. I was at Kinross for the races, and they offered a spectator race. I told my wife I was headed to the wash room, but actually went out to the parking lot and got our new car and took it on the track. I thaught she was going to kill me, but I have been hooked ever since.
Who do you look upto as a person in this sport? For one, my engine builder. We really share alot of information with each other. Also Micki Moroello. He has been a great help on getting my career started.
Tell us about the race that got away from you? I was at Kinross racing, had fast time and did great in the heat race and was scheduled to start on the pole. I had gotten a call to the pit board because my wife had gone into labor. I made it back to the track in time to start at the back of the feature and even opted to start at the tail, but the promotor would not let me race.
What competitor do you admire most on and off the track? Josh Ware. He always does great at the track even when he does not have a lot of help. He always races you clean also. We share a ton of information with each other, and we both learn a lot from one another.
How do you think 2009 will end for you? Well 2008 brought us 17 wins and 2 track championships with the late model. This season we will be running at Kinross, Laird and Berlin with a late model and our modified. We hope to repeat our success at Kinross and Laird, and we will be in the learning curve with the guys down at Berlin. They have very good fields of cars down there, and the track is a bit different from what we are used to here at home.
Career Stats:2002 Sportsman Champion Laird International Raceway, 2003 Randy Dewitt Memorial winner Kinross Speedpark, 2004 Laird International Raceway late model champion, 2007 Randy Dewitt Memorial Winner, 2007 Church Wier Memorial winner at Laird International Raceway, 2008 Laird and Kinross late model champion.
