The Auto Value Super Sprint Series takes a week off following the running of the MustSeeRacing.com 60 and the running of the Little 500 in Indianapolis.
On June 5th, the AVSS will cross the Northern Border and head to London, Ontario to Delaware Speedway, where the Winged Sprint Cars will face off on Friday Night on the track’s semi-banked 1/2 mile circuit.
Three races into the 2009 season, the Auto Value Super Sprints have seen three different winners, with Chad Goff taking the checkered flag in the season opener at Salem Speedway; David Steele taking the 2nd race on the schedule at Winchester Speedway and 71 year old Hank Lower bringing home the win last week at Anderson Speedway.
2008 Champion Jason Blonde has been running well and near the front and is chomping at the bit to get his first taste of victory lane while multi-time winner Jeff Bloom is also looking to find his way into Victory Lane.
Many of the Auto Value Super Sprint regulars participated in the 61st running of the Pay Less Little 500 at Anderson Speedway on Saturday, and it was AVSS driver David Steele pulling out the hard earned victory over Eric Gordon.
Steele, who won the Little 500 in 1996, has come close to visiting victory lane several times since but always came up short.
“It seems like 50 years since I won here before,” Steele said. “This win is a little better.”
On the tight racing with Gordon, Steele said the two veterans have sliced and diced against each other over the years.
Its great racing action like that which brings the fans out each and every time the Auto Value Super Sprints race and why you should be marking your calendars for June 5th.
