Ron Norman Races His Way to South Africa With Tucson Win
Five-Time track champion Ron Norman won this past weekend's Phakisa Challenge 150-lap Super Late Model event at Tucson Raceway Park (AZ). Norman earned $5,000 and a trip to the Phakisa Freeway Circuit in Welkom, Free State, South Africa to compete in the ASA Transcontinental Series Inaugural Free State 500k event on Sunday, January 31, 2010.
Avery Wins Pre-Hangover 150 at Snowy Riverside Speedway
Ryan Avery held a three-lap margin over his closest competitor at the checkered flag to win Sunday's Pre-Hangover 150 at Riverside Speedway (NH). The enduro event took place on a snow covered surfaced and had been postponed from New Year's weekend by dangerous road conditions during a New England blizzard.

Ricky Brooks to Head Up Tech at New Smyrna Speedweeks
Ricky Brooks, who is best known as being the tough as nails head technical inspector for the Blizzard Series and Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway, has been named the head technical inspection for the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing (in all divisions except Tour and SK-Type Modifieds) to be held next month at New Smyrna Speedway (FL).
Half Dozen ARCA Teams Plan Talladega Test Session
The ARCA teams of Bobby Gerhart Racing, Kimmel Racing, Win-Tron Racing, Cunningham Motorsports and Bob Schacht Motorsport are all planning on taking part in a test session at Talladega Speedway on Saturday, January 23rd in prepation for next month's ARCA opener at Daytona International Speedway (FL).
CRA's Speedfest Early Entry Deadline is This Friday
The Advance Entry deadline for the CRA Super Series SpeedFest 2010 at Lanier National Speedway on January 31st is on this Friday, January 15th. After that date the entry fee will increase by $50. Teams can enter the event by mailing an entry form and with their entry fee to the CRA office, or by faxing an entry form to the CRA office at 812-883-6198 and paying the Advanced Entry fee at the event.
Teams need to have purchased a 2010 series license in order to receive the discounted members entry fee. SpeedFest 2010 entry forms are available on-line at www.craracing.net Please contact the CRA office at 812-883-0455 with any questions.
Monroe Motor Speedway Loan is in Default, What Happens Next?
KNOE 8 News has reported that investors in the Monroe Motor Speedway (LA) are currently in default on a $4.5 million loan with BizCapital for the track. The lender is considering foreclosure on the track, but investors are hoping to put a plan in place to make their payments current and continue with plans for the 2010 racing season.
