Jim and Krista Dubois are pleased to announce they have purchased Onaway Speedway from John & Jack Palmer. "We are excited to join the community of Michigan Short Track owners and promoters and are enthusiastic about meeting and hosting drivers, car owners and race fans from around Northern Michigan at Onaway Speedway in 2010" said Onaway Track co-owner Jim Dubois.
Onaway Speedway will be opening for the 2010 season on Saturday May 22nd with a full show of Modified, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks and Bombers. "We are going to run these 4 classes of cars weekly for the entire season" said co-owner Krista Dubois.
Jim & Krista own JJ Power Inc, a company which specializes in power line restoration and storm damage repair. They live in the community of Indian River (MI) and have been actively engaged in the short track racing community for over ten years, primary racing Northern Michigan facilities.
"We are excited about the potential in Onaway Speedway" said Jim, "Northern Michigan racers have been craving a fair and honest facility to race and we are looking forward to putting together a business plan, a set of rules and a team of people in which to execute our vision which will exceed people's expectations and set the standard for Northern Michigan racing."
Co-owner Krista Dubois said "Onaway Speedway is committed to the community of Onaway and the Presque Isle & Cheboygan business community. We are civic minding people, we want to be a contributing member of not only the racing family, but our business partners here in Onaway and around Presque Isle and Cheboygan Counties.
"The track will be called ONAWAY SPEEDWAY. We want to take the track back to its roots while letting everyone know that we are headed in a new right direction under new leadership. The track's new website will be located at OnawaySpeedway.net, while the old URL's will still work." said Onaway Speedway public relations representative Patrick McNamara, "we will be quickly distributing rules, schedules, event dates, and much more."
