Hi Everyone,

Ahhh! Spring is finally here. The temperatures may still be a little on the chilly side, but there are a few tracks already gearing up for opening day.    Crystal Motor Speedway, I-96 Speedway, Thunderbird Raceway, Winston Motor Speedway, Auto City Speedway, Berlin Raceway, Kalamazoo Speedway, and Mid-Michigan Speedway Park are among the tracks that will open their gates this weekend, while Mottville Speedway in Northern Indiana kicked their season off at the start of April.

This past weekend while bopping around mid-Michigan I stopped by Crystal Motor Speedway and I-96 Speedway for their test-and-tune sessions.    There were plenty of cars at both speedways, and more surprising there were quite a few fans in the stands watching the action.   I was excited to see both, as I am hoping it is a great indication of some spectacular racing on tap for all of us in 2009.   Just hearing the rumble of race engines and having to brush off some turn-1 dirt brought a smile to my face and reminded me that, well…racing is just awesome!

Also exciting last week was seeing the first issue of the re-born Marc Times Racing News and Michigan Racing Scene in print.   It was definitely nice to be reading my favorite columnists once again, as well as another reminder that summer is just around the corner.
